The Farmer Foodshare Challenge was a success! We raised over 3,000 pounds of food and more than $1,500 so far for the Farmer Foodshare Fund.
OK…how to thank you all? Let’s just say that the week long challenge was a success.
Thank you to everyone who donated food and funds, tweeted, wrote articles, spread the word, volunteered, (made or ate a Wilcopop), sponsored and more. Together, we provided food to the following wonderful organizations. These agencies provide top quality fresh local food and nourishment to food insecure individuals and families in our communities:
CORA Food Pantry, Dilworth Soup Kitchen, Friendship Trays, Human Rights Center of Chapel Hill & Carrboro, First Baptist/Manley Estates, Inter-Faith Council for Social Services, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, Orange County Friends of the DSS, St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church and Urban Ministries of Durham.
Several local (& not so local) businesses and nonprofits went above and beyond the call of duty, too! Locopops, Empire Eats, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, Cat’s Cradle, Kidzu, Kung Fu Nation, dBpm, A. Micah Smith, Tony Margherita Management, Balloons & Tunes, The Poster Guys, The Produce Box, Society of St. Andrew, Abundance Foundation, News & Observer, Raleigh Amphitheater and, of course, Wilco!
And where would any of us be without the amazing farmers, volunteers and market managers of Atherton, Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Chatham Mills, Durham, Fearrington, Hillsborough, Raleigh Downtown, Southern Village and Western Wake Farmers Markets? Thank you!
