Bowbarr is delighted to announce EARTH TO CARRBORO, a plant and vegan bake sale benefit for Farmer Foodshare in celebration of Earth Day 2014.
On April 26 through May 4 groups from across the world will hold vegan bake sales as part of the Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale. For the 2nd year, Bowbarr will team up with local vegan baker, Sweet Poppycakes to participate in the event. In the first five years (2009-2013) of the event, participating groups have raised $250,000 for a diversity of causes throughout the world. The Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale is sponsored by A Well-Fed World, which works to feed an ever-growing human population through a plant-based diet, thus saving people, animals, and natural resources. In addition, local gardeners and Fifth Season will contribute a variety of plants, herbs, and succulents to the sale.
This year proceeds will benefit Farmer Foodshare, a Chapel Hill-based non-profit organization connecting people who grow food with people who need food, while building healthy community food systems and enhancing community economic development. Farmer Foodshare believes that everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy, local food; farmers deserve a fair price for their hard work; a healthy community food system must include all members of society; and healthy food systems result in healthy air, land, and water.
To get involved, please contact by Wednesday, April 23rd.
