The 6th Annual Farmer Foodshare Challenge has come to an end and thanks to your generosity the goal was surpassed! This year we exceeded our goal of $5,000, raising at total of $5,600. This money goes directly purchasing fresh food from local farmers for hungry people in need of fresh, healthy food.
We couldn’t have done it without everyone that donated, volunteered and purchased raffle tickets. Thanks to community participation, the markets were full of fun: each Donation Station was filled with balloons, scavenger hunts, face painting and chalk drawing- friends of all ages had a great time. Going along with the Preserve the Season theme, market goers had an array of freezing and pickling recipes, graciously contributed by local chefs, to help them preserve the bounty of summer in their own homes. Many people stepped up to help out in so many ways during this busy week, for which we want to say a big thank you to each and every one of you. Thank you for supporting your local food system, and for ensuring that everyone in your community has access to healthy nutritious food while farmers make a healthy living growing it.
