Every September as the summer bounty begins to ebb and shoppers drift away from the market, we challenge the community to come back to the market to support the local economy and fight local hunger. This year we ask for your help September 24-28 to challenge the pantry norm of processed food by sponsoring healthy meals featuring fresh food. The Challenge is to raise 20,000 fresh food meals from markets across the Triangle.

Event: Farmer Foodshare Challenge V, September 24th - 28th at Triangle Farmers' Markets

Details: Support farms and feed the hungry: Farmer Foodshare Challenge! Buy 5 lbs or Give $10!

Please join Farmer Foodshare, your local farmers' market and 12 other local farmers' markets in raising 20,000 fresh food meals for the hungry during the week of September 24th-28th. Local Farmers' Market farmers are challenging shoppers to come out to market, buy food and donate it at the Farmer Foodshare Donation Station for local urgent hunger agencies. We are also raising funds to create a cash reserve so farmers markets can provide food throughout the winter. Enter to win fabulous prizes from Counter Culture Coffee, Locopops, or Market Street Coffeehouse. BB&T is sponsoring kids art activity tables for children to do crafts and learn about how to support local farms and provide fresh food for people in need. All proceeds go 100% to purchase local food for local need. For more information, to donate, or volunteer, email info@farmerfoodshare.org, or click on www.farmerfoodshare.org/donate.

Please spread the word. To get enough food or funds for 20,000 meals, each market will need to raise 400 lbs of fresh and healthy local food.
