Thank you to all for making the Harvest Ball a Success!
On the last Saturday in October, we held our fall fundraising event, the First Annual Harvest Ball and Auction - and what a ball it truly was! Tables adorned with pumpkins, and other fall décor mingled with the natural beauty of the Magic Wings Butterfly House, creating a picturesque atmosphere. Jazz music provided a subtle backdrop to the buzz of conversation floating about the room. Our turnout was incredible, with nearly one hundred guests, sponsors, and supporters present!
Drinks and delicious hors d’oeuvres were served, including incredible crostini from Toast, hoppin’ brews provided by Triangle Brewing Company, delectable pimento cheese sandwiches and more from Farmers Table Restaurant Group, and Judge Carl Fox’s cheesecake, a favorite by all! Following the silent auction, we had remarks from our Executive Director Gini Bell, Child Care Services Association (and former Pyewacket) chef Muskie Cates, and our own Board Chair and RambleRill Farms owner, Darin Knapp. There was much discussion of the work that Farmer Foodshare has done over the last five years and the importance of merging the gap between food scarcity and our agricultural viability and abundance.
Following the remarks the live auction began, and the true excitement surmounted. Several items created light rivalries, as guests vied over everything from pie a month club to yacht days and tickets to a UNC-Duke basketball game. Paddles and quick hand waves flashed about the room as the auctioneer gasped for breath, turning as red as a deliciously ripe tomato! Although some faced slight defeat in their ventures for items, everyone who participated had fun. The Harvest Ball was an immense success, and we are so ecstatic about the outcome of this event!
Thanks so much to all of our supporters, volunteers, and sponsors for making this event possible, we sincerely could not have done it without you. We look forward to seeing you all next year at the Second Annual Harvest Ball!
