FreshKids!

FreshKids! is Farmer Foodshare’s “Farm to Children” program area. These programs provide a weekly supply of nutritious locally grown food to agencies that serve children at risk for hunger. The programs alleviate hunger, while fostering in the children a lifelong love of fresh healthy food and respect for farming.

Two pilot programs with partners in Chatham County (Fuel Up! in 2010) and Orange County (TABLE in 2011 to present) have provided over a ton of fresh local food to K-5 children at risk for hunger. Children at TABLE recently voted for “more broccoli from the farmers” for next year’s snacks.

If you are interested in getting a supply of fresh food for children’s programs in your area, please contact us at info@farmerfoodshare.org. We will collaborate on grants, or work creatively with you to help find sources of free or discounted fresh local food for the children served by your agency or after-school program.
