Benny Boy Farm: Pasture-Raised Proteins for the Community

While typically packed with fresh fruits and vegetables, on occasion, our food boxes get to feature proteins from local livestock farms. This month, chicken quarters from Benny Boy Farm were included in our CSA for the very first time! 

Benny Boy Farm is a special place. It produces high-quality chicken and eggs. Their flock of Freedom Rangers are raised on-pasture and fed Bender Farms’ GMO-free feed to ensure healthy animals and flavorful products. 

But the small Rougemont farm isn’t only focused on superior farm-to-table offerings, feeding the community is central to its mission. Whitney, Benny Boy’s owner and head farmer (and former Farmer Foodshare employee!), has dedicated her business to community-based food access, partnering with local organizations to provide for hungry neighbors. In collaboration with Urban Community Agrinomics, Benny Boy Farm distributes nourishing, local food to the community, and anyone can help give protein to the people!  

Farmers play a huge role in supporting the local food system, and we love seeing food used as a force for good. It’s even sweeter getting to share that with our own community, and we are delighted that our CSA shareholders got to receive from Benny Boy Farm in recent food boxes.
