Local Produce for Durham Public Schools

Durham Public Schools may still be on summer break, but we are already looking forward to next school year. We are happy to announce that Farmer Foodshare is one of several local produce vendors partnering with DPS to bring healthy food options to students this coming year.

DPS has been hard at work for years updating in-school food options that better serve students and the local economy. School Meals for All, an effort of DPS School Nutrition Services launching during School Year 2024-2025, provides free daily breakfast and lunch to all students, regardless of family income or school assignment. Set to debut a new whole-food-focused menu this September, DPS is making big strides in their commitment to providing healthier meals and supporting our state’s farmers. We estimate delivering about 300,000 lbs. of local food to DPS this coming school year – a huge investment in our local farmers! We are thrilled to be a part of kicking off this initiative and look forward to supplying local schools with fresh, local produce with our first delivery soon.[/vc_column_text]
