Perry Lowe Orchards: Acres of Apples

With more than 200 commercial apple operations and 9,000 acres of apple orchards alone, North Carolina ranks 7th in the nation for apple production.  

Farmer Foodshare is proud to source more than 20 GAP and EcoCertified apple varieties and products from 4 NC orchards.  

This summer, we made a visit to Perry Lowe Orchards, a 6th generation farm in Moravian Falls, NC. On more than 100 acres, Perry Lowe III and his family tend over 30 varieties of apple trees, produce cider and dried apple snacks, and grow other fresh fruits and vegetables.  

The orchard runs retail, wholesale, and u-pick operations, and each season yields 4 million delicious apples for eating, cooking, and long-term storage.  

In early 2025, Farmer Foodshare provided Alamance-Burlington School System with apples sourced from Perry Lowe Orchards, and we are glad to see that students at Williams High School enjoyed fresh, locally grown fruit during lunch! 

Many generational farms are part of Farmer Foodshare’s network, and we’re proud to support family legacies throughout NC.
