About 174,505 people in Durham, Orange, and Wake counties (nearly 10%) live with food insecurity. In the wake of federal funding cuts earlier this year, doubled down by a massive halt to SNAP benefits effective just a few weeks ago, that number only grows.

But if hunger doesn’t stop, neither do the food banks, food pantries, community fridges, food hubs, and grassroots food redistribution efforts that ensure everyone eats.

Here’s a look at a recent food distribution with our partners, Urban Community AgriNomics:

Along with dozens of other community organizations throughout the Triangle, Farmer Foodshare commits to providing fresh, local food for all amidst heightened food access needs by:

• • • • Continuing to support food access programs in partnership with TABLE, UCAN, CANDOR, The Help Center NC, Root Causes, NourishedRx, and Triangle Double Bucks

• • • • Committing to contribute a portion of Giving Tuesday donations directly to our Fresh Food Funds

• • • • Deepening our collaborative efforts with partner organizations
