Yah’s Best: A Whole Garden in a Jar

Suzanne McCord, or Yah of Yah’s Best Products, grows an impressive garden in Huntersville. One summer 25 years ago, she found herself with a few more veggies than she knew what to do with.  

A blend of tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, hot peppers, and garlic yielded a cardinal batch of salsa and a fruitful business was born.  

Now, Suzanne and her family produce a whole mess of flavorful specialty foods with their homegrown harvests: hot sauces, jams, jellies, pickles veggies, and more.  

These premium preserves aid quite a few of Farmer Foodshare’s activities: They’re listed on our Availability for customers, our CSA members can add them to their box any time, Farm to ECE partners often include them in their orders, and UNC’s Carolina Dining Services offered them to students at one of their Farm Stands.  

Suzanne’s garden grows on the same land her family has farmed since the late 1800s, and Yah’s Best is indeed a continuation of love for food, family, and tradition.  

We share the sentiment — our food system is a tasty basis for connection and celebration.
